Position Information
Job Duties
1. Strives constantly to improve the methods, content, and value of each course taught, at all times striving to better understand the students and their needs for the present and future.
2. Assumes responsibility for teaching, in addition to skills and knowledge, good citizenship, respect for the rights of others, respect for school property and the proper attitude toward the College, both in and out of the classroom.
3. Teaches all classes at the scheduled time unless otherwise arranged. Holds classes for the full period. Establishes office hours, making time available for student conferences. Posts this schedule to the office or classroom door. This instructor’s basic workweek is a minimum of thirty-five hours.
4. Counsels students when there is an opportunity, realizing that the individual instructor has the first opportunity for effective guidance.
5. Makes use of the College counseling services and materials so teaching will be more effective.
6. Attends all faculty meetings.
7. Accepts and carries out to the best of his/her ability extra-curricular supervision and duties assigned by the administration. Works with other career instructors and administration in the continued evaluation and improvement of the Electrical Technology curriculum.
8. Is responsible for the up-keep of laboratory and classroom equipment in one’s program area and the inventory of the same.
9. Participates in various college functions and operations such as student clubs and faculty assignments.
10. Maintains sufficient supplies and materials to teach classes and insures proper utilization of training materials.
11. Maintains an active advisory committee.
12. Promotes public relations of the college programs, especially career offerings, in cooperation with other instructors, realizing that recruiting is a part of the regular instructional duties.
13. Realizes the importance of public relations, and that each contact, whether with a student or member of the community, is of importance in the public relations program. No school can have a better reputation than its faculty. The faculty makes the school what it is.
14. Is familiar with the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Policy & Personnel Handbook and abides by the policies and procedures outlined therein.
15. Performs all related and implied duties and such others as may be directed by the Dean and/or Campus Vice President.

Job Description
GENERAL STATEMENT OF FUNCTION: Responsible for the teaching of assigned courses at assigned times and as well as the other responsibilities inherent in this position. Reports to the Administrative Dean of the George County Center.
Mandatory Qualifications
(M1) Certificate in Electrical Technology or equivalent. (M2) Minimum of Associate’s degree. (M3) Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial, residential, & industrial electrical installations & troubleshooting; electrical supplies and applications. (M4) Proficient with internet and email. (M5) Strong interpersonal and written skills.
Desirable Qualifications
(D1) Bachelor’s degree. (D2) Community college and/or high school teaching experience in Electrical Technology. (D3) Multi-media instructional delivery experience. (D4) Working knowledge of open entry/ open exit style of education.
