Purpose

The Senior Research Program Coordinator's main responsibility is to manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of research projects led by the Texas Behavioral Science and Policy Institute (TxBSPI). This includes facilitating effective communication and coordination across research faculty, staff, research vendors/partners, funders, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students at multiple universities and organizations, ensuring smooth project-wide operations.


Responsibilities

Grant Management

  • Supports PIs in the development and submission of proposals for external funding.
  • Oversees grant requirements, including budget and expenditure reports, interim and annual progress reports, and other deliverables.
  • Works with researchers to ensure compliance with funders’ requirements such as acknowledgment of funding, timely submission of reports, and other requirements.
  • Liaise with PRC Administration, Office of Research Support and Compliance, and funders in relation to various aspects of grant management.

Research Management

  • Supports PIs in managing research projects in terms of defining the scope of studies, timelines, and personnel assigned to research projects.
  • Manage IRB applications to ensure studies are accurately described, approved, and list all researchers on the study.
  • Support the conduct of research by establishing and maintaining memoranda of understanding, cooperative program agreements, and/or data sharing agreements with partners.
  • Supports PIs in dissemination of research findings, including manuscript submission, media releases, announcements through TxBSPI websites, and the dissemination of datasets collected through research projects.

Mentorship and Training

  • Manages the recruitment, onboarding, training, and effort of undergraduate and graduate research assistants.
  • Mentors and supports undergraduate and graduate students and postdocs in relation to their studies in terms of IRBs, grant reporting, literature searches, and other research related topics.
  • Onboards incoming project members to research projects
  • Creates opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs, and PIs to share the results of their research within TxBSPI and UT Austin


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, information sciences, public health, sociology, education, psychology, economics, or a related field
  • 5+ years experience in program administration, program coordination, and/or research coordination experience
  • Experience working with research teams in fields such as education, health, psychology, information sciences, sociology, or related fields
  • Proficiency in written and oral project communications
  • Demonstrated expertise in attention to detail, work organization, and managing task lists,
  • Familiarity with task management tools/software like MS Office 365, Wrike, Smartsheet, Google Workspace (formerly GSuite), etc.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability in effectively harmonizing communication between cross-site teams and aligning objectives between stakeholders
  • Proficiency in task management tools/software like MS Office 365, Wrike, Smartsheet, Google Workspace (formerly GSuite), etc.
  • Familiarity with data collection tools like Qualtrics, REDCap, etc.
  • Experience working in academic research


Salary Range

$60,000 + depending on qualifications
