Summary
The primary focus of our research is to elucidate the pathophysiology of genetic diseases, especially neurodevelopmental disorders, by working with human samples and human stem cell models. Our integrated approach combines wet and dry lab methods, leveraging cell systems, transgenic models, and computational biology, to identify and validate potential therapeutic targets. Under the direction and general supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Associate will work in collaboration with other lab members to conduct research using knowledge in biomedical sciences - biochemistry, molecular biology, molecular virology, microbiology, neurobiology, chemical biology, and/or molecular genetics. Design, organize, and conduct specialized experiments using established scientific protocols and procedures. The Research Associate will compile the research results which will be reviewed and approved by the Principal Investigator. The Research Associate may be expected to work independently, present data, train and guide junior members of the lab, as well as manage ordering of supplies and services.
Job Duties
- Conduct biomedical research using biochemistry, molecular biology, molecular virology, microbiology, and molecular genetics.
- Plan and conduct research experiments, develop techniques, and prepare SOPs required for specific research projects.
- Assist the Principal Investigator with data analysis organization publication and may assist with preparation of grant applications.
- Train and guide junior members of the lab as needed.
- Maintain efficiency, manage lab supplies and inventory, and oversee ordering, maintenance, repair, and disposal of lab equipment and reagents.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Basic Science or a related field. Experience in lieu of degree will not be accepted.
- Three years of relevant experience typically as a Research Assistant, Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate.
