Job Description


The Department of Anesthesiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, seeks a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to investigate the signaling mechanisms of acute kidney injury. Experiments involve genetically modified mice and cell culture models using pharmacologic pathway inhibitors of signal transduction. Proficiency in cell culture, immunohistochemistry, RT-PCR, confocal microscopy and immunoblotting techniques are required.

Ability to work with minimal guidance is expected and essential. The desired candidate must be able to develop and learn new techniques as required for these studies as well as teach techniques to other members of the laboratory. Additional duties may be assigned as required by the PI.

Qualified applicants must be a recent recipient of a PhD and/or MD awarded within the past three years. The only exception to this requirement is individuals of greater experience who wish to retrain themselves in a new discipline or specialty.
