Occ Summary

Conduct independent research activities under the guidance of a faculty mentor in preparation for a full time academic or research career.


Work Performed

You will be contribu ting to NIH-funded program in the Terrando lab studying the mechanisms underlying delirium superimposed on dementia, including aspects of how inflammation drives neurovascular unit dysfunction and glia activation. Yo u will be leveraging various techniques, including advanced genomic, organ-on-chip technologies, animal models, microscopy, and innovative thera pies. You will have access to a vibrant community of collaborators both within Duke and experts across the US to provide dedicated training and resources to advance the aims on thisgrant.


Knowledge, Skil ls and Abilities

Min Degree Requirements:  Ph. D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g. Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M.).

Other Credential/Experiential Requirements:  The incumbent must be a true post-doctoral fellow registered with the Post Doc Office and per the following requirements:

  • The term of this appointment is limited (5 years with a possible extension for an additional year)
  • The appointment involves substantially full-time research or schol arship, which may include teaching responsibilities.
  • The appoint ment is viewed as preparatory for a full time academic or research caree r.
  • The appointment is not part of a clinical research training p rogram, unless research training under the supervision of a senior mento r is a primary purpose of the appointment.
  • The appointeeworks u nder the supervision of a scholar or a department at Duke University.
  • The appointee has the freedom, and is expected to publish the resu lts of his or her research or scholarship during the period of the appoi ntment.
