Job Description

A Postdoctoral Associate is being sought for the lab of Dr. Jessica Pfleger at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech Carilion in Roanoke, VA. Research in the Pfleger Lab focuses on the regulation of gene expression in the heart. Specifically, current projects examine the epigenetic and transcriptional mechanisms that control gene expression in cardiac health and disease. The Postdoctoral Associate will be responsible for significant contributions to and completion of the assigned projects, as well as assistance with other ongoing projects. Other responsibilities include writing and submitting postdoctoral fellowship awards, drafting manuscripts, presenting at internal and external meetings and conferences, and mentoring students and other lab members.


Required Qualifications

• PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, or some related field. PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
• Experience in molecular and cellular biology techniques, including but not limited to western blotting, qPCR, mammalian cell culture, mouse handling and experimentation, and fluorescence microscopy.
• A record of publication and presentation.
