Posting Summary	Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine (CABM).  A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Alexander Valvezan at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The Valvezan Lab works to define the complex interplay between the signaling pathways and metabolic networks that control cell growth and cancer, with emphasis on identifying and exploiting metabolic vulnerabilities to develop new therapeutic approaches. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work at the interface of basic and translational science, combining genetic, pharmacological and molecular biology/biochemistry approaches with the latest metabolomics, metabolic flux analysis, and expression profiling assays in cultured cells and mouse tumor models to gain a comprehensive understanding of how signaling pathways remodel cellular metabolism and how to leverage these insights for therapeutic benefit.   Exciting and highly impactful projects are available that can be tailored to the applicant’s interests and experience. Such projects include: (1) Targeting ribonucleotide (NTP) synthesis pathways to selectively kill cancer cells (2) Defining and targeting metabolic reprogramming in colorectal cancer (3) Defining cellular stresses sensed by the master metabolic regulator mTOR Complex 1 to identify tumor vulnerabilities.   For more information, including detailed project descriptions, please contact Dr. Alexander Valvezan at valvezan@cabm.rutgers.edu and visit the lab website: https://sites.rutgers.edu/valvezan-lab/research/  Among the key duties of this position are the followng: Carry out an independent research project studying signaling and/or metabolism in cell growth and cancer.  Keep detailed records of procedures and experiments.  Compile data and present findings.  Prepare scientific manuscripts for publication, and contribute to the preparation of research grant and fellowship applications.  Work independently as well as collaboratively, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.  Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience	Qualified applicants must have a PhD or MD/PhD degree in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry or related field, with demonstrated research productivity.

Preferred Qualifications	Experience with mouse tumor models.
