Job Summary:

The UW-Madison Office of Postdoctoral Studies is seeking a Career Development Manager. The Career Development Manager is a critical member of an office dedicated to enhancing the postdoctoral training experience at UW-Madison. You will lead the design and implementation of the office's career development programming and advising portfolio. Your work will help ensure that postdocs maximize their time as trainees and go on to successfully achieve their professional and personal goals. The mission of the Office of Postdoctoral Studies is to enhance the postdoctoral training experience at UW-Madison by providing a suite of high quality and responsive engagement, representation, policy and professional development services for the 1,100 postdocs who train at the university each year. The office serves all UW-Madison postdocs including trainees in 13 different schools and colleges, and across the full breath of research and scholarly disciplines from the arts and humanities to the biological, physical and social sciences.

Responsibilities:
Coordinates and delivers career development programming, resource materials, and/or advising to students and alumni. Educates students, alumni, and other stakeholders about career development and opportunities and maintains relationships to aid in effective career planning. Supervises unit staff and/or has significant program management authority/responsibility, and strives to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
  • 25% Educates or advises students and recent alumni individually, or in groups through various mediums about career exploration, self-assessment, skills, materials development, and career decisions
  • 25% Develops and delivers career development programming and resource materials across various mediums to provide education to students
  • 5% Responds to questions and provides information regarding student services, policies, procedures, and employment preparation
  • 20% May identify and maintain a professional network of employers or other stakeholders to facilitate career exploration and employment opportunities for students
  • 25% Supervises unit staff and/or plans, organizes, allocates resources, assesses performance, and leads the operational activities for a significant portion of the unit's career services portfolio

- Career development theory and practice
- Designing, planning, delivering, and evaluating training programs
- Advising or mentoring students and/or postdocs

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%
This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $60,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The starting salary for the position is $60,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
