Summary of Job Duties:
A Post Doctoral Fellow opportunity is available within the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department in the area of melanoma molecular biology and omics based approaches. This position offers comprehensive training in basic and translational science while providing experience and guidance in grant writing and mentoring graduate students. The candidate will design and implement studies to identify molecular targets for cancer therapeutics for the treatment of melanoma. The successful candidate is expected to effectively relay research progress through written and verbal communications, submit manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals, and apply for extramural funding.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, cancer biology, or related field with a track record of scholarly accomplishment as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Experience in tissue culture and basic biochemistry techniques

• Experience in statistics, graphing, and data analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in RNA and DNA sequencing, ChIP, and EMSA

• Experience with animal models and procedures

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

• Perform wet laboratory research activities, including cell culture, protein purification, cell biology techniques, and tumor-mouse studies.

• Perform dry laboratory research activities, including planning experiments, data analysis, and generation of data figures.

• Write manuscripts and grant proposals.

• Demonstrates effective communication skills.

• Communicates accurate and complete information.

• Maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.

• Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments.

• May perform other duties as assigned.
