Postdoctoral Position in Genetics and Genomics

Albert Einstein College of Medicine

Job Description

Job description

The Department of Genetics and the Institute for Aging Research at Einstein, a renowned institution in human aging research, are seeking postdoctoral fellows to join their multidisciplinary team. The team's primary focus is to gain insights into the biological mechanisms underlying healthy aging in both model organisms and human cohorts with a high prevalence of longevity.

Einstein is home to prestigious research centers such as the Nathan Shock Center of Excellence in the Basic Biology of Aging and the Paul F. Glenn Center for the Biology of Human Aging. These centers provide an exceptional research environment for individuals interested in studying the biology of aging and multiomics. The selected candidates will have access to a wide range of valuable resources, including genomic, proteomic, metabolomic, and clinical datasets, as well as samples from Einstein's familial longevity studies.

Ongoing NIH-funded projects within the group include investigations into comparative genomes of longevity and the discovery of resilience mechanisms related to Alzheimer's disease. The team, led by Drs. Zhengdong Zhang, Nir Barzilai, and Jan Vijg, is seeking innovative and motivated candidates who can work independently while also collaborating closely with clinical, basic, and computational researchers.

Applicants should possess a strong interest in applying computational tools to address key questions in biology and aging, both in humans and model organisms. The position offers T32 funding, and there is potential for transitioning to a faculty position. The group has a successful track record of mentoring early career scientists, helping them secure career development awards and achieve research independence.
