Columbia University's Mortimer B. Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute (the Zuckerman Institute) brings together researchers to explore aspects of mind and brain, through the exchange of ideas and active collaboration. The Zuckerman Institute's home is the Jerome L. Greene Science Center on Columbia's Manhattanville campus. Situated in the heart of Manhattan, at full capacity the Zuckerman Institute will house over 50 laboratories employing a broad range of interdisciplinary approaches to transform our understanding of the mind and brain. In this highly collaborative environment, labs work together to gain critical insights into human health by exploring how the brain develops, performs, endures and recovers from trauma or disease.
The Staff Associate I will support the Lomvardas Lab in assisting Associate Research Scientists and Postdoctoral Research Scientists with projects related to the expression of mouse olfactory receptors and the culturing of mouse olfactory neurons. The Staff Associate I will gain proficiency in a dynamic, collaborative research environment. The Staff Associate I will be responsible for performing a variety of biology techniques, assisting during surgeries and the behavior training of the rodent populations.
Specific duties include:
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or physics or related science; 2 - 4 years of research experience required.
The Staff Associate I must be capable of working independently on husbandry and training duties after being instructed. Prior wet laboratory research experience is highly required, including work with animal models, neuroanatomy and histology. Ability to work in an organized manner in accordance with established regulations, policies and procedures and having exemplary work ethics are required.
