Job Summary

The Department of Technology Leadership & Innovation in the Purdue Polytechnic Institute seeks a Post Doctoral Research Assistant for a 12-month position to support ongoing research in the area of microelectronics engineering workforce development. The Post Doctoral researcher will conduct collaborative research with leading research groups in areas of microelectronics engineering and workforce development. The researcher will be expected to conduct qualitative interviews of microelectronics engineering technical experts in defense, industry and academic sectors and analyze data, reports, and artifacts to develop models for  analyzing workforce development needs in the microelectronics engineering industry. Will map the required technical and professional skills to student curriculum and programmatic activities and recommend best practices for microelectronics engineering student development to meet current and ongoing workforce needs. Opportunities for collaborative work within broader areas related to microelectronics engineering will be determined based on the researcher’s interests and skills. In addition, the researcher may provide mentoring and supervision of graduate and undergraduate researchers in a team-based environment, assist in the development of new programs or grant projects, host innovative workshops, and/or participate in the broader intellectual life of the Polytechnic Institute and/or the College of Engineering. Start date is August 1, 2023.


Qualifications

The position requires a recent PhD in an Engineering, Communication, Education, Organizational Behavior, or related discipline to be completed no earlier than December 2020. Candidates must show evidence that all requirements for the PhD have been met prior to the start of the position. Candidates must also have strong training and proven expertise in research design in qualitative methods. Preference will be given to applicants with skills in one or more of the following areas: open-ended, qualitative interviewing; focus group facilitation; qualitative data analysis; quantitative methods; survey methodology; planning and facilitating workshops.

Appointments will be initially for one academic year with the possibility of renewal annually for up to 3 years. Salary is commensurate with position and qualifications. This position is contingent on final budget approval.
