Summary

Assists with oversight and provides support for daily operations of the Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI) at Baylor College of Medicine.

 

The Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI) is built on a legacy  of cardiovascular research. Founded in 2012, the CVRI serves as an avenue for increased collaborative research efforts, development of cutting edge cardiovascular clinical technologies, and enhanced educational programs. The center operates under six major research  focus areas and boasts over 500 members comprised of basic science research faculty, clinicians, fellows, and pre- and postdoctoral trainees spanning throughout institutions in the Texas Medical Center. Today, the CVRI offers three Graduate School courses , a seminar series , annual symposium , and supports new research and clinical applications through awarded pilot grants . With a clear vision to become a global leader in cardiovascular research, medicine, and education, the CVRI is committed to shaping the future of cardiovascular science.

 

This position may be eligible to work in a hybrid work arrangement from the Greater Houston area but works mostly onsite.

Job Duties
  • Supports financial operations, including budget preparation and monitoring, reconciling accounts, month-end financial processes, and financial analysis.
  • Prepares monthly financial reports, financial projections, and ad hoc reports.
  • Supports human resources operations, including recruitment, onboarding, faculty appointments and promotions, visas, and leaves of absence.
  • May participate in pre and post-award grant management activities, such as overseeing the application process, preparing financial reports, and monitoring budgets.
  • Manages facilities for basic and translational research.
  • Assists with the writing of collaborative research grant and fundraising proposals.
  • Trains and supervises administrative staff and interns.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree. 
  • Four years of relevant experience. 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field and two years may also be considered.
  • Experience in an academic setting is a plus.
