Research Associate - MBG Hojoong Kwak's Lab

Position Function

The research associate will conduct RNA research in Kwak Laboratory with independence in designing and conducting experiments. They will participate in data analysis, publishing manuscripts, generate CRISPR mediated genetic alterations on enhancers or 3'UTRs, and improve existing genomic assays in Kwak Lab. RA will also assist with computational analysis and prepare and publish manuscripts.

Anticipated Division of Time

~50% Development of experimental strategies for CRISPR mediated genome editing of target genes and the analysis of genetic models.

~20% Establishment and optimization of computational pipelines for transcriptomic and epigenomic analyses.

~15% Writing of grant proposal and scientific manuscripts.

~10% Supervision and training of graduate and undergraduate students and postdoctoral scholars.

~5% Professional Development.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Developmental Biology, Cell Biology, or Molecular Biology (required)
  • Previous experience with developmental biology techniques (required)
  • Previous training on computational tools for genomic analysis (required)
  • Three years of postdoctoral experience (required)
  • Previous experience/publication in the specialized area of transcription factor biochemistry (preferred)
  • Previous experience in the specialized area of RNA biology and UTR regulation (preferred)
  • Previous experience in genomics/transcriptomics method development (preferred)

Supervision Exercised

The person will be supervised by Dr. Hojoong Kwak. Limited supervision and training of graduate and undergraduate students and postdoctoral scholars.

Salary range is $54,840 - $75,000

Pay Range:

$45,700.00 - $91,000.00

Pay Ranges:

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

  • Prior relevant work or industry experience.

  • Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.

  • Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)

  • Unique applicable skills.
