Summary of Job Duties:

A Post-Doctoral Fellow position is available in the lab of Dr. Teresita Bellido at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology to study the mechanisms of diabetes-induced bone and muscle disease and the protection by PTH1R signaling. He/she will use a combination of in vivo, ex vivo, in vitro in silico approaches at the tissue, cellular and molecular levels, to analyze the action of the effect of diabetes in bone and skeletal and investigate the mechanisms by which signaling downstream of the PTH1R restores tissue function. Experience in animal, in vitro and in vivo experimentation, and bioinformatics tools to interpret data from single cell and single nucleus transcriptome analysis is required. In addition, experience in quantifying gene expression at the RNA and protein levels is required.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or related field required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Drug administration by subcutaneous, intravenous, and intraperitoneal injections and gavage.

  • Ex vivo bone and skeletal muscle organ cultures.

  • In vitro culture of primary bone, skeletal muscle, and other cell types, and cell lines.

  • Quality control and statistical analysis.

  • Work closely with various laboratory animal specimens.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification of mentoring training; ability to mentor personnel at different stages in their careers, and ability to work in a scientific team environment.

  • Transcriptomics, Proteomic, and metabolomics analysis.

  • Bioinformatics approaches.


Additional Information:



Responsibilities:

  • Involved in quality control and statistical analysis of the data, including one-, two-, and three-way ANOVA analyses, two factor repeated measures ANOVA, and bioinformatic analysis.

  • Contribute to the interpretation of the results, the writing of abstracts and manuscripts for publication, and grant proposal preparation.

  • Involved in training and supervision of graduate students, technicians laboratory, and summer students.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.
