Epigenetic and molecular regulation of cardiovascular and renal function
Department of Physiology
University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center
A Postdoctoral Research position is available for studying epigenetic and molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular and renal diseases in the Department of Physiology at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center. This position is sponsored by NIH-funded projects. Salaries are competitive and fringe benefits include retirement and health insurance coverage for family. The incumbent will join a dynamic research team which stands in the forefront of cardiovascular and renal research. This position may have opportunity for advancement and promotion based on accomplishments of first 3 years. This position is ideal for a highly motivated individual who would like to prepare himself/herself for an independent faculty position.
This position will receive mentoring and training in a wide array of epigenetic, molecular, biochemical, and integrative physiological approaches. Current areas of research emphasis include 1) Epigenetic regulation of cardiovascular and renal functions, 2) Molecular and stem cell therapy for cardiovascular and renal disease, and 3) Role of exosomes in the regulation of cardiovascular and renal functions. Studies are conducted in genetically engineered rodent models.
Candidates must have a PhD, MD or comparable degree with an interest in cellular/molecular cardiovascular or renal research. Prior experience and training with at least three of the followings is preferred: epigenetics, CRISP/Cas9, autophagy, stem cell biology, exosome, viral vectors, renal tubule epithelial cell biology, proteomics, vascular biology or telemetry. Our laboratories are housed in the state-of-the-art Coleman Research Building with excellent core facilities in the UTHSC campus.
