Postdoctoral Research Associate

Northeastern University

Job Description

About the Opportunity

The Neuroscience Precision Research with Idiographic Statistical Methods (Neuro-PRISM) Lab at Northeastern University, under the direction of Dr. Stephanie Noble, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to lead statistical and computational human neuroscience research. The Neuro-PRISM lab focuses on unraveling fundamental principles of brain measurement and developing statistical and machine learning models for individual-level insight, often by leveraging large, publicly available neuroimaging datasets (for more information on research in the lab, see https://sneuroble.github.io/ ). The Postdoctoral Researcher will contribute to ongoing projects, as well as develop and lead new projects in the lab and in collaboration with others at Northeastern and other institutions. This position offers mentored experience in developing an independent research program, making it an excellent fit for individuals planning to lead computational neuroscience, psychology, biomedical, or meta-science research in an academic or non-academic setting.

The Neuro-PRISM lab is located in the Center for Cognitive and Brain Health, a vibrant interdisciplinary community situated in the state-of-the-art Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex building in Boston. The Center forms a nexus for multiple labs to explore brain, mental, and physical health using innovative computational and statistical methodologies, backed by cutting-edge neuroimaging facilities.

Qualifications

PhD degree (expected by September 2023) in Psychology, Neuroscience, Bioengineering, or a related discipline.

  • Track record of relevant research experience and strong project management skills (both peer-reviewed publications and preprints are considered).
  • Strong quantitative and computational skills, including familiarity with statistical programming in Matlab, Python, R, or a related language.
  • Familiarity with Linux shell scripting and command line are preferred but not essential.

How to Apply

To apply, please upload (1) a 1-page cover letter describing your research experience, interests, and PhD completion date (or expected), (2) a CV, and (3) contact information for three professional references (please include name, title, email, and relationship to you).

Although applications will be accepted until the position is filled, review of applications will begin August 15, 2023. Please apply prior to this date for full consideration.

We offer flexibility in the start date, with a preference for Fall–Spring 2023. This position will be fully funded for its full duration (typically 2-4 years).

We particularly encourage individuals from historically underrepresented groups in science to apply.

For any inquiries, please reach out to Dr. Stephanie Noble at stephanie.noble@yale.edu.
