A Clinical Research Division laboratory that studies hematopoietic cell biology and develops novel gene therapy and gene editing strategies is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to participate in primary immune cell gene transfer and mechanistic studies using in vivo models.


Responsibilities

The position involves processing and analysis of primary blood and tissue samples, culture/analysis of cells infected with HIV and related viruses, and development of tissue-based transgene and virological assays. The candidate will study and develop methods to maximize the engraftment of gene and cell therapy products with the PI and other senior members of the research team, as well as with external collaborators. S/he will be expected to work closely with diverse study personnel, and publish and present their work in both internal and external events.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A PhD or MD in a scientific field is required.
  • The individual must possess knowledge of multicolor flow cytometry.
  • Experience in infectious and/or genetic diseases is highly desired.
  • Experience is preferred in advanced cell culture techniques and/or quantitative assay development.
  • Previous experience in laboratory management/organization, scientific writing, and mentorship of early-stage scientists is highly desired, but not required.

To be successful in this position, the candidate must be highly motivated and able to work independently to design and execute experiments, possess a high level of initiative and attention to detail, and must also be able to multi-task and prioritize work at short notice. S/he must also be capable of working independently in a team environment. Candidates with excellent organizational skills and communication skills (written and oral) are encouraged to apply.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $65,484 to $100,000 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
