Position Summary | The Rau lab studies the genetic basis of heart failure, with a hybrid wet/dry approach that blends classic and cutting-edge bench science techniques with new computational approaches. We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to join us in studying several genes of interest using a combination of molecular biology and in vivo mouse work. We are also looking for someone to spearhead/complete a project to perform a large systems genetics screen of heart failure in mice and who will drive research forward into independent lines of inquiry (other interests of the lab include DNA methylation, cardiac cell composition). The postdoctoral fellow will also be expected to mentor undergraduate and graduate students, attend conferences and present their work, and interact with other members of the cardiovascular and systems genetics fields. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, or other related field at time of appointment |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | The position requires significant wet lab experience and knowledge of the cardiovascular field. Have interest in interacting with and collaborating with bioinformaticians before, during, and after experiments Have exposure to the use of animal models for the study of disease and/or a willingness to learn Be collaborative, creative, and a team player |
