Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Dental Mechanic III for the Facility Administration Department within the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM). The Dental Mechanic III, under the direction of the Director of Facility Administration, will carry out various technical work involved in the installation, preventative and routine maintenance of dental equipment.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Performs facility maintenance as needed, such as, painting and patching wall surfaces, door and window frames, changing ceiling tiles, flooring repair, picture hanging, moving furniture, etc.
  • Assists in layout and installation of new equipment using proper tools and techniques of trade.
  • Certifies that new equipment is installed and operating to manufacturers’ specifications.
  • Assists with removal and relocation of existing equipment as directed.
  • Assists with minor repairs and renovation to building(s) as required to prepare for installation of new or relocated dental equipment.
  • Becomes familiar with sketches, formal plans, specifications, and schematic diagrams pertinent to the job.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Graduated from trade school or practical experience with some knowledge of electrical or plumbing concepts.
  • Position requires a minimum of two (2) years craft experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with dental equipment a plus.
  • Mechanical experience preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be able to lift 65 pounds, climb ladders, and work on the floor kneeling or crouching down.
  • Indoors in various clinical, construction or workshop environments.
