Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Staff Nurse for the Department of Ambulatory Care/ infectious Disease within the New Jersey Medical School (NJMS). The primary purpose of the Staff Nurse position is to, in accordance with professional nursing standards, skillfully administer total patient care based on the individualized needs of assigned patients and families.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Develops and maintains good human relations skills consistent with the principles of the program with employees, patients, medical staff, and visitors in accordance with the performance of duties.
  • Ensures all procedures are performed based on established standards; demonstrates competency in performing all procedures within scope of practice.
  • Documents all aspects of patient care.
  • Is knowledgeable of and initiates emergency procedures.
  • Maintains supplies and equipment.
  • Administers medications and parental therapies in accordance with policies and procedures.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a license to practice in the State of New Jersey.
  • Prior experience: 1-2 years as Registered Nurse.
  • Will consider graduate nurse with prior clinical experience (e.g., certified medical assistant, EMT, etc.)
Certifications/Licenses
  • Registered Nurse.
  • BLS for Providers (CPR)
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Infectious Diseases, HIV/AIDS care is preferred.

  • Position requires standing 2/3 of the time, walking 2/3 of the time, requires sitting 1/3 of the time, use of hands to finger, handle, or feel over 2/3 of the time, reach with hands and arms 1/3 of the time, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 1/3 of the time, talk or hear over 2/3 of the time.
  • Occasionally requires ability to push wheeled carts/stretchers more than 100 pounds up to 1/3 of the time.

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
