Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Nurse Manager (Clinical) for the Department of Infectious Disease Practice within the New Jersey Medical School. Under the direction of the Director, the Nurse Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating clinical/patient care activities. This position will drive the goals, objectives, and outcomes of the program. The duties include; 1) Responsibility for effectively recommending personnel actions, 2) Cost effective use of resources, 3) Participation in orientation and other educational programs for personnel, 4) Evaluation of patient care, and clinical performance of staff. 5) Coordination of services rendered by nursing personnel with those rendered by other departments and 6) Initiation of investigations related to the improvement in services. Ensures congruence with missions, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and standards. The CNM also leads data management, validation, analysis and reporting related to HIV Quality Improvement performance and operations.
Among the key duties of this position are the following;
  • In collaboration with Infectious Disease leadership, develops, leads and manages the quality and safety of patient care and an interdisciplinary team of staff that may include registered nurses, certified medical assistants (CMAs), or others who are essential to the care delivery model.
  • Works in conjunction with management and staff to plan and implement agency goals and objectives, productivity, growth and expansion.
  • Supervises clinical personnel’s work performance and conducts an evaluation of staff’s performance.
  • Oversees selection and onboarding, within budgetary guidelines, to provide staffing for efficient operation of the clinic.
  • Provides patient centered nursing care for patients.
  • Develops and maintains a Clinical Quality Management (CQM) infrastructure (QM plan, QM committee, and QM data collection strategy), quality improvement activities and performance measures.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible nursing experience with two (2) years in a position requiring general medical/surgical nursing skills, preferably in an
    outpatient setting.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of managerial/supervisory experience.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Current valid New Jersey Nursing license required with current valid Basic Life Support certification, maintained throughout employment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of experience in the area of HIV.

  • May require travel to other locations.
  • Lifting up to 25 lbs.
