The Afkhami Lab is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Associate to join our interdisciplinary team and contribute to an exciting research project focused on studying sweet potatoes, rhizosphere soils, and nutrient limitation. The successful candidate will utilize synthetic biology tools and microbial ecology approaches to investigate the complex interactions between sweet potato plants, the microbial communities in rhizosphere soils, and nutrient availability. This position offers an excellent opportunity to advance our understanding of plant-microbe interactions and contribute to the development of sustainable agricultural practices. Some duties related to this project include - A) Design and conduct experiments to explore the role of microbial communities in the rhizosphere of sweet potato plants. B) Investigate the impact of nutrient limitation on sweet potato growth, nutrient uptake, and rhizosphere microbial community dynamics. C) Assist in the mentoring and training of graduate and undergraduate students involved in the research project.
