Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of five health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. Position Summary
The Center for Integrative Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery (CICBDD) is looking for a creative scientist to work on various computer-aided drug discovery projects. Postdoc will be responsible for application and optimization of modern structure-based and AI-driven computational approaches. The research will provide a major contribution to collaborative translational projects in the center focused on drug and chemical probe discovery for targets implicated in antiviral, cancer, and neurodegenerative therapeutics.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Ph.D. in computational chemistry/biophysics or related quantitative field (e.g., physics, mathematics, computer science).
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Advanced knowledge of modern virtual screening and molecular dynamic software (Gromacs, NAMD, Shrodinger suite, KNIME, Python RDKit and similar).
- Basic knowledge of machine learning and chemoinformatic.
- Ability to prototype models and analyze data in Python and present scientific results orally and in print. . – Expected to have a broad interest in biomedical sciences and drug discovery.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Knowledge and skills in data processing and curation, structure-based approaches would be a significant advantage
