Postdoctoral Research Associate

JOB SUMMARY

Qualified individuals are invited to apply for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate position under the supervision of Dr. Emily Myers in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at the University of Connecticut. The postdoc will work on projects relating to the cognitive neuroscience of speech perception, supported by an active NIH grant. The project will use functional neuroimaging (fMRI), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and data from people with left and right brain injury to understand the division of labor in speech perception. The project also incorporates an adult lifespan approach to the neurobiology of language. 

The position has a flexible start date.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The position involves overseeing research related to this grant, supervising graduate students and a research assistant on the grant, creating plans for data collection and analysis, assisting with manuscript preparation, and helping to disseminate the results.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in communication sciences and disorders, psychology, neuroscience, or related fields.
  • Expertise in neuroimaging data collection and analysis.
  • An established research background in speech perception and/or psycholinguistics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with multivariate imaging analysis techniques and programming experience in R or MatLAB.
  • Strong computational skills.
  • Experience with clinical populations or using TMS.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

The initial appointment is for one year and renewable annually for up to three years total, with reappointment contingent on adequate progress towards goals and funding. Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications
