The Center for Closing the Health Gap in Greater Cincinnati is a community-based 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization leading the effort to eliminate racial and ethnic health disparities in Greater Cincinnati through advocacy, education, and community outreach. The Center utilizes community-based initiatives to improve the health status of the targeted populations. The initiatives involve partnerships with local organizations to provide behavior change workshops, outreach and advocacy programs, and health education training.

Job Summary: The Director of Community Health will oversee the Center for Closing the Health Gap in Greater Cincinnati portfolio of initiatives and projects and manage the work of the program staff. The Director develops strategic partnerships and works collaboratively with community organizations and advocacy groups to advance our commitment to mitigate health disparities. This position currently reports to the President and CEO.

Responsibilities:

  • Set strategic directions for Center for Closing the Health Gap program staff on the design, implementation, and evaluation of community health initiatives to advance health outcomes and eliminate health disparities within the neighborhoods we serve.
  • Oversee the daily organizational management of and engage with team in all community health initiatives and projects to create conditions for successful implementation.
  • Support the organization and program staff in developing clearly defined strategies and goals for all community health initiatives.
  • Directs the management and implementation of new and existing data dashboards to track and monitor trends across all community health initiatives for outcomes continuous improvement using result-based accountability.
  • Ensure the program team is aligned with the Center for Health Gap’s overall strategic direction and related implementation plans.
  • Remain knowledgeable about community health best practices and emerging trends to ensure removal of barriers to care and alleviation of health disparities in the community.
  • Build collaboration across teams to seamlessly optimize program delivery to improve that improves participants’ health and achieve community health among vulnerable and marginalized populations.
  • Focus on enhancing team processes and practices through the application of community health principles and best practices.
  • Create and implement policies, procedures and standards that support community health initiatives.
  • Support grant writing and ensure timely accurate reports to funders.
  • Create a professional development plan with a supervisor that gives you the opportunity to gain experience and apply new knowledge and skills.
  • Set your schedule in collaboration with the Director of Community Health for times when necessary to work evenings and weekend day and work to flex time as needed.
  • Participates in the Annual Health Expo.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Skills:

  • Requires the ability to manage multiple complex community health initiatives involving multiple staff, interests, and goals.
  • Requires strong knowledge of project management with the ability to meet deadlines and hold self and team accountable for set goals and outcomes.
  • Requires knowledge of results-based accountability quality improvement framework.
  • Exceptional organizational and management skills, and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage project budget and program needs.
  • Requires strong communication, relationship-building, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Comfort with facilitating planning and strategic thinking processes, including collaborative decision-making processes.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment: flexibility with an ability to maneuver effectively in the face of uncertainty and transition.
  • Success mentoring and supervising staff and contractors.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations.
  • Experience working with funders and grant writing and reporting.
  • Ability to leverage data and potential opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Experience with software/systems, email marketing and campaign, online seminar platform software, evaluation software and event management software.

Education:

A Master of Public Health is required. And 5+ years of management experience.
