Job Description

This position will provide instruction for FINANCE 645 and 646: Introduction to Applied Security Analysis and Portfolio Management (ASAP), beginning in the fall of 2023. The primary focus will be to lead the two-semester course sequence that is designed to teach students the practical skills necessary to research, analyze and pitch securities and to manage investment portfolios. Topics include business model evaluation, financial statement analysis, identification of key drivers of success, valuation methodologies, investment philosophies, and the development and communication of an investment idea. Responsibilities include course preparation, classroom instruction, holding office hours and grading. This position has general supervision under the Chair of the Finance Department.

Responsibilities:

Facilitates classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction and assists with instructional development and design for a single course or series of courses within an academic discipline to support the delivery of quality instruction. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record.

  • 85% Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
  • 10% Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
  • 5% Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

Qualifications:

Required:
  • 5 years of professional experience in security selection or portfolio management.

Preferred:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and high level of professionalism.
  • Experience in mentoring/teaching college students and/or mentoring/training junior staff.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, presentation and time management skills.
  • Experience with financial tools and databases.

 

Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 10% - 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 9 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding
