Position Summary
The Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences (DSHS) is a unit in the Department of Health Sciences in the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. The DSHS faculty seek one qualified candidate for a one-year, postdoctoral training fellowship. The postdoctoral fellow will engage in student classroom instruction (one 3 credit hour course per Fall and Spring semester) as well as research on a NIH/NIDCD funded project focused on speech production profiles in stroke survivors. The postdoctoral fellow will collaborate with the investigators on this project to acquire advanced applied research competencies, including management of data processing pipelines for speech, language, and brain data, supervision of research staff in data analysis, and recruitment and direct contact with stroke survivors. The trainee also will gain experience in project development and management, grant writing, data analysis, and dissemination. Additional duties include participation in the DSHS graduate admissions committee.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Qualified applicants must have a completed Ph.D. with a major emphasis in speech-language pathology by August 1, 2023.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Must carry ASHA certification in speech-language pathology.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and expertise in neurological communication disorders.
