Development Coordinator

The Development Coordinator works in collaboration with the School Director, Board, faculty, and staff to create and execute a strategy that fosters a culture of philanthropy at Portland Waldorf School and supports the growth of our Mission. The Development Coordinator encourages community engagement. They will coordinate community volunteers and manage our alumni relations program as a foundation for their principal responsibility of coordinating all PWS fundraising efforts, including building endowments, managing capital campaigns, running auctions and other fundraising events.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

Fund Development:

· Manage existing capital campaign for seismic project

· Define and implement plans and goals for cultivating existing and potential donors

· Timely gift acknowledgement and pledge tracking; maintain records

· Define and implement PWS Annual Fund Campaign

· Research and implement plans for foundation and grant requests

· Define, implement and increase individual giving

· Coordinate the Annual Gala/auction

· Member of Development Committee and Marketing Committee

· Oversee publication of an annual report

· Provide monthly reports to School Leadership

· Work with the Marketing Committee to prepare, edit and circulate fundraising materials including website updates and social media campaigns

· Manage Development budget

Community Engagement:

· Initiate and implement Alumni Program

· Manage database, communications and events to foster alumni participation

· Promote and coordinate PWS community volunteers with support of Parent Association

· Recruit, train, manage, and appreciate volunteers

· Track volunteer participation

· Collaborate with admissions staff on developing and executing community events, including monthly teas, open houses, and school fairs

· Collaborate with faculty and staff in coordinating special events, including community festivals and celebrations

Desired Qualifications:

· Experience with managing capital campaigns and fundraising campaigns for nonprofit organizations

· Familiarity with Waldorf education

· Exceptional interpersonal skills; desire to cultivate long-term relationships with community members

· Proven ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively

· Demonstrated success with community building events

· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and ability to interact with a wide range of Waldorf and non-Waldorf constituencies – board, parent, community, institutional and individual donors, etc.

· Project management skills, including ability to prioritize and stay organized

· Familiarity with database management and maintenance (Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT)

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and life experience

· Ability to work some evenings and weekends for meetings and events as needed

· Ability to handle highly sensitive information appropriately and maintain confidentiality

· Proficiency with multiple computer platforms including Google Workspace

· Familiar with design practices such as layout and color for marketing materials. Familiar with Canva or similar platforms a plus.

· Familiarity with social media platforms and campaigns a plus.

This is a full-time, year-round, exempt position and salary is $50-60K per year. Portland Waldorf School was founded in 1982 and is fully accredited through AWSNA. We serve over 300 students from early childhood through grade twelve on a beautiful seven-acre campus in downtown Milwaukie, just 20 minutes from downtown Portland.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
