The Department of Curriculum and Instruction and the Center for Advancing the Teaching and Learning of STEM (CATALYST) at Purdue University invite applications for a full-time postdoctoral fellow with expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) in K-12 STEM education. The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of an extension to the second year. This position is a fiscal year (12-month) appointment at the rate of $60,000.
Specifically, we are seeking dynamic and innovative applicants for the following responsibilities:
- Affiliating with CATALYST to support our emerging AI in K-12 STEM initiative by conducting signature collaborative research with CATALYST faculty and our partners
- Disseminating research results and ongoing findings via publications and presentations to local, state, national, and international professional organizations
- Developing and piloting a graduate-level course on AI education in the K-12 context
- Collaborating with CATALYST faculty to design and incorporate a learning module on AI into at least one existing secondary STEM methods course
- Designing and delivering a professional development workshop on AI for K-12 STEM teachers

Requiried Qualifications
This position requires a doctoral degree in a field of STEM education, learning sciences, or other related education fields. We seek individuals who have established a nationally recognized and coherent research program, made significant contributions to their field through a range of scholarly accomplishments, and obtained extramural funding to support innovative research and practice or have the potential to do so. In addition to possessing expertise in AI in K-12 STEM education, successful candidates will have experience teaching an undergraduate pedagogy/methods course.
Desired Qualifications
Applicants with innovative research and teaching plans for AI in K-12 STEM education will be given preference. Preference also will be given to applicants with K-12 teaching experience. We seek individuals who have an interest in and knowledge of psychometric methods.
CATALYST
CATALYST is an interdisciplinary research-oriented unit focused on building and supporting a community of educational professionals dedicated to advancing K-12 STEM teaching and learning through research. Our faculty hold joint appointments across the Colleges of Education, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Agriculture.
