Description

Under the supervision of the Director of Education, the SAO II will provide high level administrative support to the Neurology Education Office, fellowship programs, and post-doc/graduate student activities. Coordinate regulatory and accreditation activities relating to department fellowship programs. Provide support to the Director(s) of Residency/Fellowship Training Programs. Coordinate education events oversee budgeting and monitoring of expenditures. Represent the Office of Education to department members, University officials, and the general community. Arrange visits, social events on and off campus for trainees, faculty, rotators, and staff activities. Monitor monthly expenditures for the fellowship and basic science (graduate student & postdoctoral) activities and assist Director with the preparation of annual budget. Independently prepare, draft, or edit correspondence and reports. Plan and coordinate staff/faculty meetings, and other events. Manage Clerkship involving the coordination of the combined neurology/psychiatry eight-week ongoing medical student clerkship for four UCLA Affiliated Sites of (approximately 35-40 students every 8 weeks). Pay Range: $24.28 – $48.04 Hourly

Qualifications

Ability to utilize appropriate interpersonal skills to interact effectively with faculty, residents, students, colleagues, patients, campus and hospital department as well as outside agencies Ability to work effectively and accurately with frequent interruptions and changing priorities Skill in coordinating meetings, dinners, lectures and other activities Ability to function effectively as a team member Excellent oral communication skills to transmit and obtain information using appropriate vocabulary and grammar Typing/word processing skills to prepare letters, memos and reports with speed and accuracy Working knowledge of University policies and procedures as the policies and procedures unique to the Department of Neurology Skill in establishing and maintaining confidential files Skill in setting priorities and organizing workload that accurately reflect relative importance to the job responsibilities Ability to operate personal computer based systems for medical literature searches, word processing and data organization as well as the ability to teach others how to use these systems Ability to learn the operation of video, photographic and audiovisual equipment Communication skills to convey and obtain complex information Three to five years experience providing administrative support to clinical faculty Some college course work
