Summary

This faculty position with the Department of Pathology & Immunology will provide research and educational-related services.  The Department of Pathology & Immunology seeks an Associate Professor with expertise in cancer biology and molecular/cellular biology, with specific training and expertise in molecular signaling pathways regulating cancer progression and therapy resistance and tumor microenvironment.

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated associate professor with expertise in molecular signaling pathways regulating cancer progression and therapy resistance and tumor microenvironment to join the Department of Pathology & Immunology. It is expected that this associate professor will obtain grant funding to support their research and publish their work.

 

The ideal Associate Professor candidate will work in labs and will report to the Chairman of the Department of Pathology & Immunology.  This candidate will have research and teaching responsibilities and will supervise staff, students, trainees, and faculty. It is expected that this person will 1. Develop an active research program focused in the areas of cancer biology and molecular/cellular biology 2. Submit grants and obtain grant funding and generate data for program grants 3. Publish papers of high quality 4. Perform experiments relevant to cancer biology and molecular/cellular biology 5. Lecture and teach classes in fields of expertise 6. Mentor students, technicians, staff scientists and faculty. Baylor College of Medicine is located in the Texas Medical Center campus. Besides the Baylor College of Medicine main campus located at One Baylor Plaza, Houston, Texas 77030, all participating sites include all Baylor College of Medicines affiliated teaching hospitals located in the Texas Medical Center campus in the Houston, Harris County District. Travel outside of the campus is not required.


Job Duties
  • Develop an active research program focused in the areas of cancer biology and molecular/cellular biology.
  • Submit grants and obtain grant funding and generate data for program grants.
  • Publish papers of high quality.
  • Perform experiments relevant to cancer biology and molecular/cellular biology.
  • Lecture and teach classes in fields of expertise.
  • Mentor students, technicians, staff scientists and faculty.

 

This Associate Professor will supervise students, technicians, staff scientists and junior faculty.


Minimum Qualifications
  • A PhD in Biology, Biomedical Sciences or equivalent.
  • Postdoctoral training/fellowships.
  • Previous experience (industrial and academic research).
