Organizational Unit Overview
The Office of Research, Economic Development and Engagement (REDE) is responsible for research policy and integrity, research administration and sponsored project contract negotiations across ECU and leads economic and community engagement initiatives including partnerships with public sector agencies, industry, military, and other organizations in pursuit of scholarly activities, economic development, and community engagement. The Office directs new intellectual enterprises, including technology transfer. REDE is responsible for the following units under its umbrella: Office of Engaged Research, Office of Continuing and Professional Education, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, Office of Human Subjects Protections, Office of Licensing and Commercialization, Office of National Security and Industry Initiatives, Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, Office of Regional Development, Office of Research Administration, Office of Research Development, Office of Research Integrity and Compliance, Office of Undergraduate Research, and the Small Business and Technology Development Center.
Job Duties
The primary purpose of the Grant Revenue Management Technician is to provide support for cash and receivables management for sponsored projects with the focus of maintaining a steady cash flow for the University. As such, this position works closely with various partner groups both on and off campus to ensure the overall effective coordination of research management services, systems, policies and processes. Duties may include: processing draws against letters-of credit; applying payments and receipts and pursuing collections for sponsored project awards; monthly analysis of balances and activity related to sponsored receivables, billings, and collections; monthly reconciliation of the clearing accounts as well as reconciling the A/R to the G/L; prepare journal entries as needed for Banner adjustments; assemble and enter the deposits into Banner; communication with sponsors regarding vendor setup; and uploading backup documentation into Xtender. Work performed by this position is specialized and must ensure financial compliance with all pertinent federal laws, Circulars, Regulations, University policies, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) applicable to higher education. The ability to exercise sound judgment and the highest levels of ethics and integrity in connection with assigned duties is essential.
Minimum Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
License or Certification required by statute or regulation

- Experience in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Attention to detail.
- Analytical skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Experience with General Ledger reconciliation.
- Experience with sponsored research.
