Staff Scientist

Job Description:
The Staff Scientist takes a lead role in designing and performing experiments to investigate the mechanisms of Chromatin regulation and RNA splicing in human neurons, including, bioinformatics analysis of transcriptomic and epigenomic data, as well as preparation of results for publication. The Staff Scientist also oversees and coordinates the activities of a wet bench research assistant, and an undergrad working on this project. In addition, the Staff Scientist will contribute to oversee other bioinformatics studies and analysis carried out in the Lizarraga laboratory by supervising a computational research assistant in the laboratory.
This is a fixed term position with a current end date of one year from the start of hire, which may be extended based upon available funding.
Job Qualifications
Education and Experience
• Required: Master’s degree (in molecular biology, cell biology, or related field); PhD Preferred
• 3-5 years of research experience or, equivalent combination of education and experience
• Postdoctoral laboratory experience (Preferred)
• Stem cell biology and neuronal differentiation experience (Preferred)
• Bioinformatics experience (Preferred)
• Supervisory experience (Preferred)
• H3K36 methylation expertise (Preferred)
