What we want

The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for an Research Assistant - Shetty Lab to serve as a member of the Cell Biology and Genetics team. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. The successful applicant will bring an expert level of research experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. The Research Assistant, under general supervision, will assist in performing animal breeding with genotyping, animal behavioral studies, and neurohistology.

Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Required Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment.

  • Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • B.S. degree, in biological Sciences

  • Experience in animal handling, breeding, genotyping, neurobehavioral studies, immunohistochemical studies.

  • Experience in laboratory maintenance and ordering supplies.

Responsibilities:

  • Selects and applies standard techniques of routine research and keeps detailed records of data.

  • Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.

  • Evaluates and summarizes results.

  • Assists graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and research associates involved in research.

  • Installs, operates, maintains, and/or repairs research equipment.

  • Assists with reports, invoices, and cataloging records.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
