CLINICAL DIRECTOR OF NOKOMIS ENDAAD

The Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center (MIWRC) is a non-profit social and mental health services organization committed to traditional ways of being and support of Native women and their families.

Founded in 1984, MIWRC provides a broad range of programs designed to educate and empower Native women and their families, and to inform and assist those who work providing services to the community.

MIWRC is located in the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis, which has the third largest urban American Indian population in the United States.

Programs are developed to reflect the needs of our families, and are tailored to address issues that significantly affect their well-being, such as family services, affordable housing, chemical dependency, mental health care, cultural resilience and healing, and other family and community issues.

SALARY: $90,000/annually, plus benefits

JOB SUMMARY: The Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center (MIWRC) is seeking a dynamic leader to direct our clinical operations, including, but not limited to, our Nokomis Endaad IOP, Nokomis
Waa’kaaigan (sober house), and our Wawokiye Drop-In Center, all of which services Native American/American Indian Women and their families. This position is part of the MIWRC Leadership
Team.

NOTE: In this position, you will be confronted with crisis situations affecting the Native American community. These may be people that are unhoused or live in extreme poverty, are dealing with sexual violence and/or domestic violence, may be sex trafficked, current sex workers, or in active addiction or receiving treatment. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working with Native American women and families
• A minimum of a Master's degree in a behavioral science-related field and independent licensure in a discipline that meets Minnesota's DHS definition of a Mental Health Professional according to MN 245.462. These licenses are:
• Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
• Licensed Psychologist (LP)
• Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)
• Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT)
• Clinical Nurse Specialist in Mental Health (CNS)
• Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP)
• Psychiatrist (MD)
• have at least one year of work experience in direct service to an individual with substance use disorder or one year of work experience in the management or administration of direct service to an individual with substance use disorder;
• Know and understand the implications of this chapter, sections 626.557 and 626.5572, and chapters 245A and 260E. (Demonstration of the treatment director's knowledge must be able to be documented in the personnel record.)
• Ability to pass DHS Background Check
• Knowledge and understanding of systems of violence and trauma, including inter-generational effects of historical trauma.
• Valid Driver’s License/Insurance, with a satisfactory driving record.

Other Qualifications:

• Must submit to DHS Criminal Background Study.

Demonstrated ability to:

• Maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.
• Ability to exemplify professional conduct and ethical standards.
• Provide effective communication: interpersonal and listening skills with clients and staff.
• Work in a cooperative team relationship with MIWRC agency staff and other agencies to coordinate client services and programming.
• Perform at a highly multi-tasking position and maintain professionalism under stressful situations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

• Provide management for daily operations of the Nokomis Endaad department
• Monitor compliance of policies and procedures to ensure quality services for clients and accountability for staff
• Evaluate the clinical program to ensure that client needs, agency standards, and funding requirements are met
• Evaluate and improve the policies and systems of documentation, client files, and statistics, including ensuring adequate staff training
• Provide oversight and support of the EHR system, ensuring client tracking
• Monitor trends and make informed decisions regarding service provisions

SUPERVISION AND SUPPORT

• Manage all Nokomis Endaad staff
• Clinical Programs that require DHS Provider Manual compliance, i.e. Billable ClinicalServices/Programs
• Manage concerns relating to coverage, productivity, customer service skills, and workload expectations
• Provide administrative support, supervision, and consultation to support and broaden staff skill levels
• Provide weekly individual clinical consultation and support to Clinical Supervisors and support as needed to licensed, non-licensed clinicians, non-licensed staff and clinical interns
• Oversees on-going staff development

PLANNING AND COORDINATION

• Participate in MIWRC’s leadership team
• Conduct regular clinical team meetings
• Work closely with clinical supervisors and program supervisors to coordinate services for clients
• Maintain a working relationship with company stakeholders
• Coordinate and provide community presentations and trainings

CLIENT SERVICES

• Provide individual and group counseling according to individualized treatment plans and in accordance with professional standards
• Make treatment and social service referrals to appropriate agencies that support client goals
• Ensure that accurate records and documents are created and submitted in a timely manner
• Maintain current knowledge of assessment and treatment techniques, criminal justice systems, and community resources using in-service training, seminars, workshops, and publications
• Prepare monthly reports for supervisor and maintain statistical data.
• Attend training and meetings as required by the position.
• Respond to other duties as assigned.

REPORTING AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The Clinical Director of Nokomis Endaad reports directly to the CEO and supervises, both directly and indirectly:
• Nokomis Case Manager(s)
• Director of Nokomis Waakaa’igan (“Grandmothers House/Building”)
• Nokomis House Case Manager
• Nokomis Waakaa’igan Family & Resident Advocate
• Nokomis Waakaa’igan Resident Advocate
• Lead Drop-In Center Support Worker(s)
• Drop-In Center Support Worker(s)
• Mental Health Therapist(s)
• Behavioral Health Counselor
• LADC Supervisor
• Nokomis Counselor(s)
• If additional DHS Provider Manual programs/departments are developed and require clinical billing to third parties for services provided, supervision of these departments/programs will require supervision from the Clinical Director of Nokomis

Endaad.
