Salary Range:  Hiring up to $65,000

Summary


The postdoc will be working in collaboration with the Undiagnosed Diseases Network (UDN) to tackle the diagnosis of rare neurological diseases using the fruit fly as a model organism. The UDN physicians identify variants based on sequencing information from patients. The corresponding homologs are then studied in the fruit fly to uncover novel disease-causing genes. The candidate will focus on genes that encode mitochondrial proteins and are associated with  mitochondrial disorders in human patients. His/her work will help us uncover new rare genetic human diseases as well as the underlying mechanisms.
 


Job Duties
  • Plans, directs and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data.
  • Establishes new research protocols and procedures.
  • Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals. 
  • Maintains laboratory operations.
  • Supervises research staff.

Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD is required
