Activities Assistant - Behavioral Support

Job Description

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Supervision of participants in evening and weekend recreation and leisure programming to ensure a positive experience
  • Encourage participants to engage and participate in social programming by providing outreach
  • Participate in leading activities, clubs, electives, and excursions
  • Provide elective course instruction in the categories around the T.E.A.C.H framework as needed, including subbing for elective instructors as needed
  • Educate participants in the surrounding areas of Richfield, Bloomington, and Edina, including ongoing education in public transportation for programming to support independence
  • Provide transportation and support for scheduled shuttles to grocery stores, YMCA, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation, special education, art education, outdoor recreation, community education, Occupation Therapy, or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with adults with learning disabilities is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary.
  • A current driver’s license with a good driving record is required.
