Job Description
Minnesota State College Southeast seeks an Unlimited Full-Time Automotive Services Technology Instructor for our Winona Campus who is dedicated to excellence in teaching and desires to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives. Faculty members at Minnesota State College Southeast are professionally active scholars who participate in departmental and campus-wide activities to enhance their disciplines, promote interdisciplinary discourse and collaboration, and advance the college mission. The instructor may earn unlimited status upon completion of six successful probationary semesters.

  • Teach core courses with an emphasis on Automatic transmissions and transaxles, Drive train and axle, Engine performance, engine repair, Automotive technology capstone and other similar courses.
  • Teach courses with an emphasis on Auto Body in electrical and mechanical.
  • Provide instruction and advising to students in day, evening, and alternate schedule formats utilizing traditional and alternative delivery methods and virtual learning environments.
  • Deliver classroom, web-enhanced and/or online course instruction.
  • Design, develop and maintain current curriculum to meet local, regional, state, and national industry standards.
  • Contribute to department, division, and college goals, which provide the basis for program planning, implementation, evaluation and support.
  • Work as a team member in maintaining a learning environment that effectively and efficiently meets the educational requirements of the diverse postsecondary student.
  • Build and maintain professional and community business relationships.
  • Recruit program students and assist with retention and job placement efforts.
  • Engage in scholarly activities consistent with the college’s goals.
  • Course assignments may include day, evening, and weekend hours as well as off-site locations.
Required Qualifications
Education Requirement:
Post-secondary diploma or equivalent certificate in Automotive Services Technology.

Occupational Experience Requirement
Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in Automotive Service Technology.

Professional Requirement
Current ASE certification in the areas in which the faculty member is teaching.

Recency Requirement: One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) post-secondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

Teaching and Learning Competency Requirement

Preferred Qualifications
    • ASE Certified Master Technician
    • B5 in Auto Body in electrical and mechanical or able to achieve this certification within 1 year of hire
    • Assessment experience (i.e. continuous improvement)
    • Effective communication, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills
    • Ability to work with a diverse student population
    • Willingness to use technology to enhance the classroom experience
