EduCare Foundation is a non-profit organization focused on enrichment and after-school programs, serving at-risk students at high school sites in the Los Angeles area. Students participate in academic enrichment with an emphasis on improving language arts and math skills; receive homework assistance, and take part in physical activity and leadership programs. In partnership with LAUSD/Beyond the Bell Branch, schools, parents, and the communities we serve, we provide a fun and safe place for students to learn and grow. We strive to help students close the academic achievement gap, build confidence and prepare for the future.

Summary of position

We are currently in search of a Part-time After-school Site Coordinator who has responsibility for coordinating after-school activities at a large urban public high school. This includes working with school personnel and EduCare Staff to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated after-school program, that may include homework assistance, enrichment, arts activities, work preparation workshops, leadership development, and fitness activities, as determined by the contract with Beyond the Bell Branch of LAUSD.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- On School Site Coordination and Administration of After School Program

- Work on the school site to coordinate daily after school programs which may include some evening or weekend activities

- Daily management of after-school program site staff (Assistant Site Coordinator and class/club instructors) – approximately 12-15 part-time staff.

- Represent the After-school Program to the school community, including students, parents, staff, faculty, and community partners.

- Responsible for outreach, recruitment, and enrollment of students in the after-school program

- Have full knowledge of the grant requirements.

- Have full knowledge of all programs and services offered by after-school partnerships.

- Submit monthly calendar and daily schedule of all after-school programs and activities.

- Work with school and partner agencies to implement new programs and activities.

- Develop leadership activities.

- Available to students during the school day and after school; helps students choose after-school activities as well as develop programs based on student interests and needs.

- Work with community outreach organizations to bring additional resources, services, and programs to campus.

- Counsel and advise students as needed and help them to resolve problems that may impede their participation in the after-school program.

- Attend Professional Development and other program-related meetings.

- Attend monthly EduCare Site Coordinator meetings

Records Maintenance and Data Collection:

- Collect daily attendance records for all after-school program activities and input data on a daily routine.

- Responsible for distributing and collecting student intake forms for, after-school programs, these are required for attendance to count.

- Provide monthly reports, program outcome data, and additional data as required.

- Keep notes on program activities, successes, and challenges as they occur.

- Fill out surveys at the end of the year.

- Distribute and collect surveys from students, parents, and teachers to determine student interest in programs and activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises 1 to 6 Instructors/Tutors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Experience: Minimum two years experience in an after-school program setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; PayChex Flex for timekeeping purposes, and Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint; etc.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Other Qualifications:

Must be willing and able to travel to multiple locations throughout the Los Angeles area for training, meetings, etc. on an as-needed basis. The incumbent must provide proof of a negative Tuberculosis test within 60 days of the hire date. Incumbents must also secure and maintain a CPR/First Aid certification and attend annual Risk Management Training.
