The Program Officer is responsible for managing relationships with grantees of Inasmuch Foundation’s journalism, education, human services, and community initiatives. Externally, the Program Officer works directly with grantees, as well as business and community leaders throughout central Oklahoma. Internally, the Program Officer works in conjunction with the Foundation’s program staff to develop and execute long-term strategies of the Foundation, manage projects, and build strong coalitions and partnerships with other funders and community representatives. Inasmuch Foundation is a small, highly collaborative team operating in a fast-paced environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIES:

The Program Officer is responsible for all aspects involved in day-to-day operations involving the programs and projects funded or supported by the Foundation including the following:

  • Assist in the formulation of the Foundation’s strategic initiatives and present those initiatives to executive management, Board, and Grants Committee
  • Build, cultivate, and maintain relationships with grantees, community leaders, elected officials, and local nonprofit personnel through regular communication and discussion of initiatives, grants, policy, and community needs
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner with businesses, nonprofit organizations, government representatives and others to maximize and promote the foundation’s initiatives
  • Convene community groups to solve issues, create efficiencies, improve quality and access to resources, and discourage duplication
  • Identify gaps in leadership, services, and funding in priority areas
  • Represent the Foundation at events including nonprofit fundraisers, task forces, committees, and community convenings
  • Serve on nonprofit boards and committees at the direction of the Foundation
  • Actively participate in fundraising activities and events involving initiatives, programs, and projects to create long-term sustainability
  • Monitor local, regional, and national trends to inform grantmaking
  • Monitor state and federal opportunities for funding and leverage the Foundation’s support to increase competitiveness for organizations based in Oklahoma
  • Identify and establish pertinent metrics and outcomes relating to community needs and community benefits in coordination with grantees
  • Development of positive relationships, in order to allow the Foundation to ask tough questions, critically evaluate plans and strategies, offer constructive feedback, and make unpopular decisions (including decisions to decline projects and requests for support)
  • Assist grantees throughout the grant-making process; from crafting proposals that best communicate the organization’s strengths, through post-grant verification
  • Review and evaluate sponsorship requests and grant applications
  • Assist in setting agendas, devising logistics, and creating organizational approaches for meetings of the board and board committees
  • Connect grantees with other organizations and agencies to advance their mission
  • Develop new skill sets and knowledge areas as necessary
  • Assist members of the foundation staff as necessary

IDEAL CANDIDATES:

  • Bachelors degree required, graduate degree preferred
  • Expertise and a passion for the Foundation’s education or community focus areas
  • Preference, though not required, will be given to candidates with a background in education who have a familiarity of parental choice, charter schools, and education reform
  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus and partnerships with a range of constituencies
  • Experience with public speaking and comfortable being a public representative of the Foundation
  • Strategic thinker and problem-solver, with a proven ability to create and manage systems-change
  • Knowledgeable of state and federal policies and legislation applicable to the Foundation’s program areas
  • Ability to synthesize complex, nuanced systems and information to develop solutions
  • Be receptive to feedback, willing to learn, and embracing continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, diplomacy, and customer service skills
  • Strong logic, analytical and problem-solving abilities with solid understanding of complex data management
  • High level of discretion in maintaining confidentiality of sensitive materials and issues

SALARY & BENEFITS:

The starting salary will be commensurate with candidate experience. The salary range is $75,000 - $85,000.
