Summary:

The Waikiki Business Improvement District Association (WBIDA) is seeking a highly collaborative and communicative individual to serve as the Safe and Sound Program
Coordinator. This position will report to the WBIDA Deputy Director and have no direct reports. Coordination of this program will require collaboration with law enforcement, social service, prosecutors, public health and community leaders for the purpose of problem-solving long-term homelessness and the associated chronic street disorder. This position will also become familiar with the day-to-day operations and services for the Streetscape Maintenance and
Hospitality/Safety programs, with particular emphasis on ensuring Waikiki is a clean, safe, and vibrant resort destination.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop nontraditional solutions for reducing criminal behaviors and finding services for the severely mentally ill in the Waikiki District.
  • Coordinate with social service, mental health, law enforcement, and justice systems to bring resources to individuals with a long history of homelessness and substance use disorders.
  • Collaborate and effectively communicate criminal behavior challenges with program partners.
  • Collect, organize, analyze and present data in tables, graphs and maps to track outcomes and program progress.
  • Conduct field work with partners to support problem solving efforts for individuals engaged in frequent contacts with police, business and general public regarding criminal activity.
  • Develop and steward relationships with property owners, businesses, government officials, and other community stakeholders.
  • Research, submit and track grants from private and public funding sources.

Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • No direct supervision of staff is required

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the Program Manager is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • The Program Manager will split time between a traditional administrative office setting and field operations, with exposure to the natural environment and varying weather conditions.

Work Hours:

  • Regular full-time with occasional evenings and weekends. Flexible schedule options are available and encouraged.

Required Qualifications:

  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience working in successful programs that address the underlying needs of individuals chronically committing livability crimes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and/or databases platforms; ability to identify and assess various technology platforms to support operations.
  • Competent in gathering, analyzing and presenting statistical information.
  • Possess strong partnership building, problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively to staff, contractors, property owners, business, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with a close attention to detail and build positive working relationships both inside and outside of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems in an effective and timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently, both in the office and out in the field, with minimal direct oversight.
  • Willingness to take the lead on new projects or assignments.
  • Demonstrated willingness to make independent and sound decisions with the upmost level of integrity and judgement.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social work/counseling, or business/public administration.
  • Licensed mental health psychologist, counselor, or social worker (preferred not required)
  • Skilled at community organizing and active listening.
  • Familiarity with the community and human services dynamic regarding street disorder issues.
  • Sensitivity to both youth and senior safety issues created by street disorder.
  • Ability to translate community impacts into the courtroom to achieve outcomes that change lives and contribute to the community’s quality of life.
  • Experience working strategically with law enforcement, street outreach, and public safety stakeholders.
  • Have a passion for translating street-based experiences into storytelling that will support statistical data.

Compensation:

Salary range starts at $70,000, depending on the quality of the candidate and will be commensurate with experience. This is a full-time exempt position, with a benefit package that includes medical, dental, optometry coverage, SIMPLE IRA, vacation accrual, personal days off, sick leave, holidays, mileage and professional development reimbursement, flexible hours and partial remote working options.

Minimum Requirements:
Candidates are sought that have completed a four-year university-level degree. Relevant experience may substitute for degree achievement. Experience in non-profits collaborative partnerships preferred.
Experience and /or familiarity with social service programs and law enforcement strategies.
