This position, supporting the AAMC Virtual Communities Network roleis intended to last 12 months and give individuals a strong background and network with which to find a permanent position in the community management industry at its conclusion.

How you will make an impact?
 
This role is crafted to give you a fundamental understanding of community management and the hands-on experience of working in the industry.

Community Operations and Programs
 
Learn how to keep an online community engaged and operating efficiently. From member management to launching successful programs, you will touch all aspects of the community workflow. We're always looking to iterate and improve; new ideas are always welcome.

Community Strategy & Theory
 
You will have complete access to our comprehensive community training center of excellence resources.

How To Work Collaboratively
 
We work iteratively, collaboratively, respectfully, and with constant feedback.
 
What you'll bring to the role
 
You might be our next Community Management coordinator if you:
 
  • Have a bachelor's degree in social sciences or communications – communications, sociology, or marketing a plus.
  • Love talking to people, have an authentic digital voice, and feel comfortable keeping a conversation going.
  • Have extensive experience using social networking and social media tools and are also active online.
  • Have experience using project management and collaboration tools.
  • Have experience collecting data or are interested in exploring metrics, research, or both quantitative and qualitative measurements (experience with Google Analytics and spreadsheet management a plus).
  • Have experience with content creation. Bonus points if you have any of the following skills or interests: video or audio editing, graphic design or multi-media content creation.
  • Want to learn the fundamentals of effective online community management and build the foundation for a career managing online communities.
  • Have a good sense of humor, work well independently, aren’t afraid to share new ideas or provide feedback on current processes, like wearing a lot of hats.
  • Want a flexible role where you start contributing on day one.
 

Remote Work Eligibility
This position may be eligible for remote work.
 
If a bachelor’s degree is required, related work experience may be substituted in some positions. One year of college course work at an accredited institution is equivalent to one year of related work experience.
