Summary

The laboratory of Dr. Connie Wu at the Life Sciences Institute (LSI) is looking for a postdoctoral research fellow who is interested in applying analytical tools for ultrasensitive biomarker detection and biomarker signature discovery towards diagnostic and predictive applications in cancer. You will report to and work under the supervision of Dr. Wu and will have unencumbered access to state-of-the art facilities in the LSI and across the University of Michigan, including high-throughput liquid handlers and screening platforms, flow cytometry, and different imaging systems.

Responsibilities*

Experimental job responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and performing bioanalytical assays, including single-molecule detection methods that involve flow cytometry or fluorescence imaging
  • Performing data/image analysis for bioanalytical assays

 

Non-experimental job responsibilities will include:

  • Work with PI on writing proposals and manuscripts
  • Help mentor undergraduate and graduate students

Required Qualifications*

  • PhD (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Biology, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Two years of experience in bioanalytical chemistry/diagnostic assay development or biochemical assays

Desired Qualifications*

  • Two years of experience in MATLAB, Python, or R for image and data analysis, and machine learning
  • Two years of experience in basic molecular biology and biochemical/cellular assay techniques
  • Applicants with less than two years of experience in bioanalytical chemistry/diagnostics but with experience in molecular biology, synthetic chemistry, or other related fields, and interests in technology development for diagnostic and discovery applications are welcome to apply.
