Summary of Position

This is a one year position with possibility of renewal based on funding. The Coordinator of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Access provides a full range of operational and support services for the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access Center. This position reports directly to the Chief Diversity Officer and will create engaging programs that focus on retaining historically underserved groups and foster intergroup dialogue, serve as a mentor and advisor to students from historically underserved groups, provide operational and administrative support for the IDEA Center, promotes a campus culture of inclusion and belonging, and represents the Center by serving on university committees as needed.

  • High school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience working in an academic environment, or Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience.
  • Clear understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion topics.
  • Demonstrated intercultural humility.
  • Experience with new and emerging trends in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Effective communicator both in written and oral.
  • Ability to handle multiple and competing priorities in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Event planning experience.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience working in higher education.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Create engaging programs that focus on retaining historically underserved groups and foster intergroup dialogue. The Coordinator will develop, manage, and assess programs that provide co-curricular support to historically underserved groups. The Coordinator maintains an active presence and supports students involved with the Black Student Union, Latine Student Union, Multicultural Club, Asian Student Union and PSU Pride among other identity-based student organizations. The Coordinator will also serve as the staff partner to the Q Living and Learning Cluster. The Coordinator will also create, facilitate, and assess diversity education sessions and large-scale events that engage members from across the campus community.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Serve as a mentor and advisor to students from historically underserved groups. The Coordinator will serve as a co-advisor to students involved with the Diversity Scholars program throughout the 4-year program. The Coordinator also proactively builds mentoring relationships and advocates for the needs of students from historically underserved groups across the University.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Provide operational and administrative support for the IDEA Center. The Coordinator manages the social media accounts for the IDEA Center, manages the SharePoint Site, manages scheduling for the Chief Diversity Officer and building usage, creates contracts for outside vendors, creates agendas for team meetings and council meetings, etc.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Promote a campus culture of inclusion, diversity, equity, and access.. The Coordinator serves as a key leader within the IDEA Center and helps to assess data gained from campus climate surveys and diversity education sessions to inform strategic planning to advance inclusion, diversity, equity, and access. The Coordinator also supports the bias incident response work by triaging reported incidents and ensuring that individuals involved are treated with dignity and respect.
