This is a 3 year fixed term position.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Prof. Jure Leskovec is inviting applications for an academic staff position of Research Engineer in the Stanford Machine Learning group. The group is one of the leading centers for applied machine learning. Our research focuses on machine learning for large interconnected systems. We focus on modeling complex, richly-labeled relational structures for systems at all scales, from interactions of proteins in a cell to interactions between humans in a society. Example projects include: graph representation learning, large foundation models, knowledge graph reasoning, recommender systems, and problems in biomedicine with an emphasis on drug discovery.

We are seeking a highly motivated research associate with background in computer science to join our group in a quest to perform and disseminate breakthrough research. You will be involved directly in the execution the group's research activities and assist in attaining the goals of its research projects. You will participate in the preparation of research publications as well as proposals, progress, and final reports. You might assist in the guidance of postdoctoral scholars, graduate and undergraduate students in the group.

The expected pay range for this position is $150,000 to $200,000 per annum.

CORE DUTIES:

QUALIFICATIONS / MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science.
  • Excellent problem solving, written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage projects with a high degree of independence.
  • Research experience related to data science, and/or machine learning.
  • Prior experience in technical writing.
  • Capacity to communicate information in a manner easily understood.
  • Familiarity with government funding agencies and academic research funding sources.
