Summary

The Institute for Social Research (ISR) is the largest social science research institute in the United States, and the Survey Research Center accounts for nearly 70% of the total volume of the institute. In the Center, one of the primary research programs is the Social Environment and Health Program (SEH), which examines social inequalities in health, including the role of structural and cultural racism, toxic and built environments, and the molecular pathways linking neighborhood context to health inequalities. We are seeking two full-time project coordinators for an externally-funded research project on racial inequities in stress and sleep within the Landscapes of Structural Racism Lab. In this position, you will coordinate and assist with all aspects of data collection and preparation which will include communication among study team members as well as study participants, preparation of IRB applications, preparation of study materials (e.g., surveys, informed consent documents, etc), overseeing/troubleshooting biomonitor and questionnaire data collection, and working with our project data manager to clean and process data for analysis. The project coordinator(s) will also assist with activities after data collection, including study team communication, literature searches, and the preparation of materials for publications and conference presentations. Each will have discreet job duties and roles in the overall Lab, while often working together towards overall project completion.

Responsibilities*

Data collection coordination (40%)  You will be the primary person supporting all coordination related to the lab. These tasks include:

?       Coordinate communication among research team members at multiple institutions and between team members and other organizations.

?       Coordinate research team meetings, which includes scheduling, maintaining agenda items, and recordkeeping.

?       Coordinate activities between PI and other internal / external research team members to ensure that tasks and timelines are maintained.

?       Work with external internal / external suppliers and colleagues to prepare and test equipment and materials.

?       With team members, coordinate participant recruitment and progression through the study, including ensuring that data collection is proceeding as planned.

Research Related Tasks (40%)  In this position, you will assist with research specific tasks on several externally funded research projects. Those tasks include:

?       Prepare, submit, and edit IRB proposals and reports.

?       Assist team with the preparation of reports and presentations (both text and data) related to funded research projects.

?       Assist faculty with grant preparation.

?       Assist team with literature searches and reviews.

?       Assist team with primary and secondary data cleaning, organization, and preparation for analysis.

Other Tasks (20%)  In addition to other activities related to externally-funded research, you will coordinate communication and assist with some activities related to faculty mentoring activities. These activities include:

?       Work with team staff to maintain project, lab, and mentoring website and project internet presence (e.g., Google Scholar, social media).

?       Assist with communication for weekly faculty mentoring activities.

?       Assist with the coordination and communication for annual symposium on racism.

?       Assist with literature reviews and manuscript development.

Required Qualifications*

?       Bachelor's degree

?       2+ years of successful project management experience

?       Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills

?       Excellent interpersonal skills

?       Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects to deadline

?       Careful attention to detail

?       Ability to both work independently and as an effective team member

?       Substantial experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

?       Demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace

Desired Qualifications*

?       Masters' degree

?       Certification from the Project Management Institute (PMP, PgMP, PfMP, etc.) or equivalent

?       Strong interest in the topic of structural racism and health inequities

Work Locations

This position will be on-site at the University of Michigan offices in Ann Arbor, with flexible scheduling and remote opportunities made available within our overall Center policies depending on overall data collection activities. If relocation is required, we will allow for reasonable time and flexibility to make necessary arrangements.
