Summary

The School of Nursing (UMSN), Undergraduate Program is recruiting a nursing professional with clinical experience in Medical/Surgical Nursing to co-teach the didactic (lecture) course, N372 - Nursing Therapies II. The effort is .16 FTE (2 credits). The class meets on Mondays 8:00am - 12:00pm.  Previous experience in classroom teaching is preferred.

 N372  Nursing Therapies II

This course builds upon previous knowledge to enable the student to integrate and apply scientific care concepts to patients/families who are experiencing acute and chronic health challenges.  Emphasis will be placed on the role of the nurse to guide transitions, collaborate and implement care across the context of the patient/family experience, including inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. Major content foci include themes of physiologic regulation; oxygenation and hemostasis; protection; bodily and cognitive function in response to environmental changes. Concepts related to person, significant other, community, society and culture are integrated throughout the course.  Students will examine patient transitions across care environments. Therapeutic Nursing Care II Clinical provides experiences to complement the content in this course.

Required Qualifications*

  • A Master of Nursing degree is required.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have both didactic and clinical teaching experience and content expertise in medical/surgical nursing in an in-patient setting.
  • A nursing license in the State of Michigan is required for this position (current licensure or willingness to obtain licensure).
  • Prior to start date must be in compliance with all health requirements including standard precautions such as Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, orientations, licenses/certifications, policies and procedures both internal and external to the University for your assigned classroom(s) and/or clinical site(s).
