As part of the largest college at the University of Michigan, LSA Finance employs more than 80 employees who provide financial and research administration support to over 100 units. LSA Finance is seeking a finance professional to provide financial and research administration support services to LSA business offices.  The Financial Specialist Associate is a key member of the business office serving multiple units.  This role requires excellent interpersonal skills to partner with colleagues at all levels and within multiple University offices. 

Responsibilities*

This position is responsible for: 

Acting as the LSA business office liaison to assigned LSA units, working closely with LSA chief administrators and faculty. Work directly with assigned faculty to prepare eGIF requests including budgeting, interpret and communicate faculty balance reporting, and answer all faculty related questions. These positions will assist with research proposal submissions by collecting and reviewing proposal documents, data entry of required information into the eRPM system, and assisting with budget development and preparation.

 Process transactions (Payment Request Forms, PeoplePay requests and purchase orders), utilizing M-Pathways and interfacing with the SSC as needed. Receive information from department faculty, staff, and administrators to prepare paperwork or process on-line submissions, ensure compliance with LSA and UM policies, track transactions within system to ensure proper payment, and complete timely processing.  Ensure that statement entries are accurate, correctly coded and in compliance with regulations and requirements.  Assist with preparation of financial reports, assist with review of business office Financial Management & Oversight Reports, and some financial analysis. Manage recharge accounts, including the billing.


Assist other members of the LSA Finance team as needed. Participate in continuous process improvement efforts.

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a financially related field, required.  Excellent, demonstrated customer service skills are essential as customer service is core to the mission of LSA Finance. In addition, candidates must have the ability to develop and implement procedures, prepare reports, and handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately. Some financial analysis will be required. Well-developed interpersonal skills, the ability to work with diverse group of customers, and demonstrated competence in verbal and written communication are all required. Mastery of Excel and comfort with changing technology essential. Must have the ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with co-workers. Candidates will need to attend to detail, exhibit sound judgment, follow work through to completion, and meet high work standards.

Work Locations

As part of the University of Michigan's Future Work Initiative and LSA Finance's Flexible Work Arrangements, this position may work on campus or hybrid (both remote and on campus).
