Responsibilities*

  • Cell culture Western blot, protein quantification RT-PCR, quantitative PCR Microscopy, tissue staining, immunohistochemistry Animal modeling, animal care, genotyping.
  • Responsible for operation of Pulmonary laboratory with faculty members within specialized research area. 
  • Acts as liaison with collaborators from other departments, divisions and organizations. 
  • Develops, designs and conducts small or moderately complex research experiments in line with plan, reviews progress and evaluates results.
  • Formulates research methods and suggests options for improving quality, identifies potential problems, recommends and implements solutions, and collaborates in the development of new techniques.
  • Trains peers and students in equipment operation and laboratory techniques, explains and demonstrates technology and equipment capabilities, operations, limitations and outcomes.
  • Coordinates data collection and screening and verifies the data.
  • Conducts analysis of data, interprets and implements research methodology based on outcome of analysis.
  • Coauthors publications and may co-present results with Principal Investigator at meetings and/or conferences. 
  • Has oversight for day-to-day operation of laboratory and may supervise exempt and non-exempt research and support personnel.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelors degree in a recogniezed field of science and 4-5 years experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted, including relevant undergraduate and graduate student experience

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master's degree

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
